Jon St.kitts
Director / Writer / Producer / Photographer/
I was born in Brooklyn NY, to two wonderful parents of Puerto Rican descent. My father who’s half Puerto Rican and Cruzan ripped me from New York city, to St. Croix V.I. to experience living on the island as a Cruzan, the other half of my ethnic identity. Shortly after at the age of 12 my family moved to Los Angeles California, where I went to high school. I did gymnastics, but then went on to wrestled and became Los Angeles city champ in and eventually team captain. I got a scholarship to attend Humboldt State University in California but opted to go to the Army instead right out of high school. The army was great, I was in an infantry unit in Erlangen, and Germany was where I served my whole tour. After my tour, I loved Germany so much that I went back to live there for a year to study the language, and this is where my career started.
While living in Germany I was a dancer entering competitions all over Germany was considered one of the best hip-hop dancers around. I became a choreographer for "Sean Garrett" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Garrett A.K.A "The Pen" who’s now a world renowned hip-hop and R & B singer/producer/songwriter. Eventually I became a member of his group called "3D" . We toured all over Germany and Switzerland and opened up for acts like Kriss Kross and Snap. I left Germany for Los Angeles where I started acting, I landed roles on 90210,As life goes on, HBO Tales of the Crypt (as a dancer),New York Undercover and a ten pilot series called "Shorts" directed by Rico Martinez, now a head producer for VH1 and MTV.and also had a cameo on the National Lampoon film called "Robo Doc" which was shot here in Orlando in which I was also a assistant to the editor. I eventually moved back to NYC to pursue Broadway, I could dance, and act but could not sing so Broadway was tough.
While acting on a small independent film back in NYC, I met Abel Ferrara, the director of “King of New York” “The Bad Lieutenant” he told me if I wanted to make it in this business to that I had to produce, direct and star in my own films, so a week later I decided to go to film school to be a director. I moved to Florida, got my AS in Film production and started directing and producing small, low budget commercials, and several music videos, writing screen plays and trying to shoot low budget films. I helped produced a local show called "Status" which now airs from Chicago as Status TV. I also acted on the National Lampoon film called "Robo Doc" which was shot here in Orlando in which I was gain film credits as an assistant to the editor.
